In this second installment to the prequel for the Return of the Gods series follow Stacy, the Green Witch, in her battles. Will she win the war? Will her struggles save her marriage to the God of War or tear it apart?

Interesting prequel

Cataclysm caught my attention for its affordability (read: free) and then I really got into it since I was always a mythology nut. Of course I had to purchase Ascension and Undercover Truths-Undercover Lies, both the sequel and prequel (in that order) to get the entire story. Will stick to just the prequel. Stacy's character was explained well, and I will stop right there, or risk giving away too much! An easy and fun read, and if you got hooked on Cataclysm, don't wait! It's worth the teeny price!

not what I expected... but left me wanting to read more

The only reason for a four versus five stars is that I have this pet peeve about female characters that appear strong and independent but immediately fawn when an alpha male looks in their direction. Anyways, The first novella set the stage for the subsequent series. I liked how it set out the relationships of the key characters and provided some back story. The second novella is post technology and provides the transition of how Stacy became a God. I haven't read the series but am now intrigued to see how it all unfolds. The writing is clear... It moves the story along. The plot is clear... It doesn't keep the reader wondering. This author's work will certainly be on my list of future reads.

This new edition of the benchmark text on clinical pediatric endocrinology still remains at the forefront of world clinical opinion. Furthermore, the style, which has been the hallmark of the book for the last 20 years, has been maintained for this Fifth Edition. Special new chapters cover the fetal origins of adult disease and the endocrine consequences and management of critical illness. This Fifth Edition now opens with a basic science section summarizing the mechanisms of hormone action, genomics, proteomics and the application of molecular biology to clinical practice. Two new co-editors have been introduced – Peter Clayton and Rosalind Brown and every chapter has been updated.

About the Author
Professor Charles Brook MA, MD, FRCP, FRCPCH, was the founder and first director of the London Centre for Paediatric Endocrinology at Great Ormond Street and The Middlesex Hospitals. His professorial chair of Paediatric Endocrinology at University College London was the first academic appointment in this subject in UK.
He is the author of more than 300 papers and the author or editor of 13 books. Now retired from the NHS and University, Professor Brook provides a consultation service offering opinion on all aspects of endocrine disease in children and adolescents.

Professor Peter Clayton BSc, MD(Manchester), MRCP, FRCPCH, is Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology & Child Health at the Academic Unit of Child Health and Human Development and Reproductive Health Academic Group and consultant paediatric endocrinologist at Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, UK

Professor Rosalind Brown, MD, received her bachelor’s degree and medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She is an active staff member at Children’s Hospital Boston in Massachusetts, and is a consulting staff member at MetroWest Medical Center. At Children’s Hospital Boston, Dr. Brown is the director of Clinical Trial Research (Endocrinology), the coordinator of the Clinical Research Conference, Endocrine Division, the Children’s Hospital Boston liaison for the Inter-Hospital Thyroid Conference, and serves as chair of the Career Development Workshop Subcommittee, Endocrine Division.
Dr. Brown is a member of the Board of Directors for Endocrine Education, and she is a member of the Public Health Committee of the American Thyroid Association. Dr. Brown has published over 35 articles, has written 20 book chapters, serves on the editorial board for Thyroid, and is an ad hoc reviewer for Endocrinology, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Immunological Methods, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatrics, Science, and Thyroid.

About the Author
Randall Schaetzl is a Professor of Geography and Geosciences at Michigan State University. His research has been published in all the leading soils, geomorphology, and geography journals. He is the editor of the Soils section for the International Encyclopedia of Geography (Association of American Geographers) and a Fellow of the Geological Society of America. He is an expert in the soils and landforms of the Great Lakes region, and he is editor-in-chief of Michigan Geography and Geology (2012). His expertise on podzolization and pedoturbation has led him to publish numerous papers on these widespread soil processes.

Michael Thompson is a Professor of Soil Science at Iowa State University. For more than twenty years, he taught pedology and clay mineralogy courses, and for the past ten years he has taught courses in soil chemistry. Thompson's research has dealt with paleosols, soil organic matter, and the fate of actinides, heavy metals, and organic contaminants in waste-amended soils. His research seeks to identify the chemical and physical conditions that favor stability, transformations, and movement of soil organic matter, anthropogenic contaminants, and clay minerals in soils. He is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America, the American Society of Agronomy, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
